SAMHSA (Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration) - SAMHSA, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), was established by an act of Congress in 1992 under Public Law 102-321. SAMHSA was created as a services agency to focus attention, programs, and funding on improving the lives of people with or at risk for mental and substance abuse disorders. SAMHSA's vision is consistent with the President's New Freedom Initiative that promotes a life in the community for everyone.
ADS Center The Resource Center to Promote Acceptance, Dignity and, Social Inclusion Associated with Mental Health provides practical assistance in designing and implementing anti-stigma and anti-discrimination initiatives by gathering and maintaining best practice information, policies, research, practices, and programs to counter stigma and discrimination; and actively disseminating anti-stigma/anti-discrimination information and practices to individuals, States and local communities, and public and private organizations.
