The Disability Rights Wisconsin is the designated protection and advocacy agency for persons with disabilities in Wisconsin. DRW provides direct advocacy assistance for individuals on a variety of legal issues related to their disability as well as engaging in systems reform activities, training and consultation.

Grassroots Empowerment Project, Inc. (GEP) is a mental health consumer controlled, statewide organizations providing opportunities for mental health consumers to provide self help and peer support services in their local communities. GEP provides groups with funding and technical assistance to assure their success. GEP also facilitates leadership opportunities for mental health consumers to become involved with policy making on a state and local level, is active in advocating for improvements within the mental health system, and provides community education on topics related to mental health and recovery.

National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) is a nationwide organization consisting of the families and friends of people with mental illness, as well as mentally ill people themselves. NAMI, which has more than a quarter million members, provides support, education, and advocacy.

Wisconsin Council on Mental Health
The Wisconsin Council on Mental Health, a legislatively mandated mental health planning council, serves to evaluate and review the mental health system's progress towards achieving improved client outcomes and the adequacy of mental health services in the state. The 15 member board, appointed by the Governor, consists of at least 50% consumers or family members. Other members represent state agencies, mental health providers, and other organizations or groups.

The Division of Supportive Living within the Department of Health and Family Services manages programs involving mental health, substance abuse, developmental disability, hearing and vision loss, as well as aging and long-term support programs. Our purpose is to provide opportunities for quality of life and quality of care for people with disabilities and older persons, and to provide regulation and oversight of nursing homes and residential facilities to ensure quality of life and quality of care for Wisconsin's vulnerable population.

The Wisconsin Women's Health Foundation is a non-profit agency based in Madison but serving women statewide through outreach and education programs about women's health issues.
