September is National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month
Recovery Month promotes the societal benefits of treatment for substance use and mental disorders, celebrates people in recovery, lauds the contributions of treatment providers, and promotes the message that recovery in all its forms is possible. Recovery Month spreads the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, that prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover.

September 5th – 9th is National Suicide Prevention Week

Job Title: Parent Peer Specialist

Wisconsin Family Ties is seeking a compassionate, motivated individual to work as a Parent Peer Specialist in Brown County. Use your own life experience as a caregiver of a child with a mental health or autism spectrum disorder to assist other families experiencing challenges related to their child’s emotional or behavioral health. This is a great opportunity to get in on the leading edge of the growing peer specialist profession.

Position Description
The Parent Peer Specialist (PPS) will provide information, training, support and advocacy to families as they navigate the various systems and supports serving their child. The PPS will also provide outreach, information and training to schools, local governments, service providers and community organizations. Work hours for this part-time position are flexible; occasional weekend work may be required.

Key Requirements:
•Experience as a parent / caregiver of a child with a mental, emotional or behavioral disorder
•Knowledge of resources and services available in Brown County
•Must have a car and a valid driver’s license
